memory
Audio Program Introduction
Psychological research has shown that nothing we have ever seen, heard, read, or experienced ever passes entirely out of the mental “storehouse” or the Subconscious Mind. However, only those things that were most vividly registered originally, are easiest to recall. That is why it is necessary to concentrate your attention. It makes the impression more vivid.
When you have developed an active interest in something that you desire to remember, give your undivided attention to it. Turn the lens of your “Mental Camera”-that is, your eyes–directly on the thing you wish to remember. Think of nothing else but that particular thing. Hold your Attention perfectly centered on that one thing, so that a “time-exposure” can be taken by your deeper mind–the unconscious.
Now form an association in your mind, between the new item and something else you have previously learned. Relate it with something already in your life. For instance, if you are reading an important fact in this Course that is new to you, first get the fact clearly in mind. Then do not leave it isolated, but decide then and there in what connection you will probably make use of that idea. This “Ties-in” what you already know, with what you are memorizing. Besides, it strengthens the memory by bringing in the important element of self-interest.
